Why rain on my parade?

Frankie and I work together. We have for years, and being at the same workplace has only strengthened our friendship that started back in university more than a decade ago. And our connection was further deepened by this marathoning fun.

And so is it any wonder that we're still yammering about this awesome achievement to each other constantly? We're loving this reliving of the moments created this past weekend. We are so proud of ourselves, of each other.

So, as is customary each morning, we say hello, how are you. That's what co-workers do, and friends may take that a step further and ask how the previous evening was. And we've been making sure to ask about each other's legs after the pounding these took on the weekend. We're both walking pretty normally now. Sunday and Monday was hard.

Anyways, the point of this rant is that BossLady saw us talking to each other on the phone this morning. And then she thought we were talking too long because sent us both an email saying "Isn't a half-hour chat with each other rather an unproductive way to start the day? Or is this a major business discussion that has major relevance for the news file?"

Why is she raining on my parade? (And she's exaggerating the time. It was more like 14minutes of casual conversation after 2 minutes of business.)

Frankie and I both wrote responses. But after careful consideration, and consultation with a couple of others, we decided not to send them because it would basically set up career suicide. Nor talk to BossLady about it. We get it. We'll not talk to each other so openly. We'll stick to instant messaging just like everyone else from now on.

That sucks, especially after making you work half a day last week.
