Well, hasn't this been a fine pattern for the last week. I'm not saying that I've been on a bender for seven of the last 10 days, but that's more alcohol that I'm used to having. Overindulging, am I, but it's been a particularly social 10 days, I guess.
Or maybe this is me trying to self-destruct before actual training begins so I won't have to do it.. Just kidding. I'm all in, as they say in poker.
Former boss, the fool that hired me at the start of my career, is in town. Can't not drink if he invites me. And he does. So, tipped two glasses of wine.
This made planned run much more difficult. But dragged myself downstairs, yet again, for a treadmill run, since going outside just reeked of extra effort that I didn't want to commit to. 5K (or 3.15 miles) in just over 40 minutes. Increased speed slightly at each mile for an average pace of 12:45/mile. Felt slower than usual today. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the stomach void of food, and pumped with sauvignon blanc. Nothing at all.
