This is the online journal of one Toronto girl who is returning to the scene of her first and only marathon. On Oct. 9, 2011, she will run the Chicago marathon five years after the maiden marathon.

A Friday Four
My new New Balance 1222s are fabulous. Maybe I won't have to lament my NB 856s anymore. I think the new shoes were a huge part of the excellent run I had on Wednesday. So to make sure that was no accident, I took them out again today (it should have been a rest day, but it turned into a make-up 4mi since I skipped it last night in favor of having pizza). I used the treadmill instead of going outside, looked like rain was coming, and even though I typically don't like to do more than 3mi on the treadmill. But I felt good during the whole thing, running a nice comfortable clip and increasing speed every mile. I think I may have been mesmerized by my own ponytail. That sounds so stupid, but seriously, I was absolutely transfixed by the way it bounced, swished side to side.

That's so funny, cause i happen to be running behind a girl today for about 200 metres and had that same thought about her ponytail! glad the shoes are working out.. i'm about to buy my second pair of shoes that will take me to marathon day..
Good deal on the shoes, the right shoes are like gold. But don't kid yourself Jelly it's not the shoes, it's the runner moving them.
Great job on the treadmill, I hate it too! I hope your week-end long run will go well! Are you going back with your new group?
The next plan is to go to the New Balance store (I forgot there was one not far from here until Frankie reminded me of it) and see if I can score another pair of something. Seems that brand is working for me.
I'm going to try the group thing again tomorrow. I'm on deck for 15mi, so going to try to do solo 4 mi before and solo 5.5mi after the group. (I figure the group will do about 5.5mi tomorrow... I'm going to stick with the 10K group for another week at least)
